The New Theatre in Emden opened in 1970. Its role as the cultural centre in the region is reflected in the diverse program that ranges from drama to opera and from concert to congress. It also hosts the Emden-Norderney International Film Festival. The beautiful auditorium holds 680 people.

All stage systems were updated to current standards tom provide the required flexiblity for a modern receiving house.
